Queen Eliabeth II news: The Queen’s bizarre hack she uses to keep her diamonds sparkling | Royal | News

Surprisingly, although the Queen is often seen wearing stunning garments and multimillion pound diamonds, Her Majesty’s dresser, Angela Kelly has revealed that the Queen is actually quite thrifty. Ms Kelly revealed in her new book ‘The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe’ that the Queen is a “very modest lady”.

The dresser also revealed that she also uses a bizarre concoction to keep the Queen’s diamonds sparkling.

Ms Kelly said she uses a simple mixture of gin and water to keep the diamonds glistening, according to the MailOnline.

Ms Kelly also said the Queen loves a good deal.

The dresser also revealed that she often shops for fabric in the “bargain bucket” in order to keep costs down.

She even mentioned a time when she picked up some silk in Singapore for the Queen, and realised that she could get the tax back because the Queen was not a resident.

In order to get the tax back, Ms Kelly almost missed her plane home.

However, according to the dresser it was worth the stress.

She wrote: “The look on the Queen’s face was priceless as I handed her the tax refund.”

The photographer was trying to instruct the Queen to pose in a certain way but instead the monarch took control.

She told the photographer: ”No, Barry, this is how we are going to do it.

“Just keep the camera rolling.”

Ms Kelly then revealed that the Queen was actually a natural model.

She wrote in her book: ”Her Majesty took her position in front of the lens and started striking a series of poses, slipping her hands in and out of her pockets and placing them on to her hips, mimicking the stance of a professional model.

“I stood in disbelief, the Queen was a natural.”

Ms Kelly is also made to fit in the Queen’s new shoes.

Ms Kelly confessed in her book, she has the same size of shoes as the monarch – which made her slip into the role of the “flunky” perfecting new shoes.

She wrote: “As has been reported a lot in the press, a flunky wears in Her Majesty’s shoes to ensure that they are comfortable and that she is always good to go.

“And yes, I am that flunky.

“The Queen has very little time to herself and not time to wear in her own shoes, and as we share the same shoe size it makes the most sense this way.”
