Man Utd team news: Predicted line up vs Southampton – Lingard out, Greenwood and Young in | Football | Sport

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a number of selection dilemmas as he prepares to take his Manchester United side to St Mary’s to face Southampton on Saturday.

Aside from a number of disappointing performances from individuals in the 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace last weekend, the United boss also has some injury concerns.

Luke Shaw limped off at Selhurst Park with a hamstring problem and is facing a spell on the sidelines so Ashley Young should come back in to deputise at left-back.

Other than that, Solskjaer is expected to go with the rest of the back line he has trusted in since the start of the season.

That means Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at the heart of defence with Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back and David de Gea in goal.

In midfield, Scott McTominay should keep his place alongside Paul Pogba but question marks remain over who should take the No 10 spot.

Jesse Lingard has started the season as Solskjaer’s first choice but he has struggled badly for form and could lose his place to Juan Mata.

Anthony Martial is also a doubt for the trip to the south coast so highly-rated youngster Mason Greenwood could be handed his first start.

His introduction will be a huge boost to fans who are desperate to see him get more regular action. Greenwood can play from the left or through the middle but will probably come in as the lone striker as Marcus Rashford has proved so effective from the left-wing.

Daniel James is expected to keep his place on the right of a three-man attack.

Manchester Unuttered predicted starting line-up vs Southampton
