Adam Lambert reveals what drives Roger Taylor crazy PLUS exciting solo UK tour news | Music | Entertainment

Lambert performed a trick Freddie Mercury himself would have been proud of tonight. Not only was he being beamed live across the world performing on stage with Queen at the Global Citizen Festival in New York’s Central Park, but he was also beaming into UK households on the Jonathan Ross Show on ITV.

Apart from being in two places at once, the singer has a busy schedule right now. Lambert is currently promoting his own solo music, with new album Velvet. The first EP was released this week with the second half still to come.

What about a UK tour?

Lambert told Jonathan Ross: “Once the whole album is out I’ll probably come back next year.”

He has also just completed the mammoth North American leg of the Queen + Adam Lambert Rhapsody World Tour. After a few months off, they will head back out on the road in Japan, Australia and Korea in January before reaching Europe in May.

Lambert spoke happily about the experience, even if he has one bad habit…

A clip was shown of the band backstage doing vocal warm-ups but Lambert revealed he always rushes in last of all.

He said: “I’m always late putting on my makeup and Roger is like, ‘You’ve arrived.’”

Rather like Freddie Mercury, Lambert has a clear love for costumes and make-up. He added: “I was always playing dress-up and it didn’t stop. I am a big kid.”

He also recalled his wonder at discovering Freddie as a young man, immediately struck by his unique style and “black nail polish.”

Lambert also talked about the huge impact the movie Bohemian Rhapsody has had on the current incarnation of Queen on tour.

He said: “It was huge and the best thing about the movie for me personally is all these (new) fans, kids and teenagers…

“We were doing just fine before the movie but now it’s stratospheric.

“(We’ve been doing shows) eight years and it is such an honour to be up there with Brian May and Roger Taylor.  It’s a dream come true.”
