Downton Abbey movie: Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton set visit | Films | Entertainment

The Downton Abbey movie is out this weekend and focuses on a Royal visit from King George V and Queen Mary. While a fictional take on a real-life tour of Yorkshire in 1912, the set of the hit TV show received one from the Duchess of Cambridge just four years ago. Lady Mary star Michelle Dockery and Cora actress Elizabeth McGovern spoke of the event on The Jonathan Ross show this week, as they promoted the Downton Abbey movie. Kate Middleton visited the set of the final series of the show back in 2015.

Dockery continued: “She is so gorgeous. Her presence was beautiful and she was so friendly.

“I’ve been privileged enough to get to know her sister Pippa [Middleton] and brother James – they’re a lovely family.”

Meanwhile, Downton Abbey the movie could very well get a sequel if the box office is good.

On a Downton Abbey 2, show creator and writer Lord Julian Fellowes said: “I never say never anymore.

“I’m too old for that. Because the moment you say never you immediately swallow it a month later.”

Lord Fellowes added: “And the fact is I don’t know. I think it rather depends as to how the picture is received and we will all have a think about whether we want to go there again.”

The Oscar-winner also spoke of the pressure and nerves of making a Downton Abbey movie.

He said: “People always talk about the pressure because of everyone’s expectations. The only time when there is no pressure is when it’s a flop.”

“So I mean on the whole it’s better to be a hit and have some pressure. I think most people will go that way.”

The Jonathan Ross Show airs tonight on ITV at 10:15pm.
